This spring break marks a special week on the calendars of LSN music staff, orchestra students, band students and choir students. They were all invited on a trip to Orlando, Florida this spring break. The music department takes a trip every two to three years. They have been to LA, Chicago, New York, and Florida. While the students and staff are there, they will be doing a variety of activities.

“Students will be going to Universal Studios, Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Hollywood Studios. Students will also get to go to a Disney recording studio and record themselves playing/singing to several scenes from Disney Movies. Students will receive a recording of their performance/movie,” Joseph Keeney, orchestra teacher, said.

The music department is very excited to be able to go on the trip this year without any setbacks from Covid.

“I wanted to sign up for the trip because it will be my only opportunity to travel with the Music Department after the Washington DC trip in 2020 got canceled due to Covid. I really wanted to get the experience and travel with the music department and my friends during my high school years,” Sophia Jones, junior, said.

Students and staff will fly down to Florida on the morning of March 19th and fly back to Lee’s Summit on March 23rd. Their trip will be full of exciting activities not only for the students but also for the staff.

“I am most excited that the students get to go on an amazing trip with their friends and have long-lasting memories. I also absolutely love the rides and Universal Studios; they are simply incredible,” Keeney said.

Both students and staff are excited for the trip and plan to enjoy all that they can while in Orlando.
