Story by Abbey Euritt – Staff Reporter
On October 24, the 33rd annual College Night will take place hosting over 100 colleges. The event offers students the opportunity to learn more about colleges that interest them and explore the variety of options available. Many students attend College Night to understand the variety of universities offered after high school.
“Students/Families will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from more than 100 higher education institutions-including military and trade-specific schools. All grade levels are welcome! Juniors and Seniors are strongly encouraged to attend with their families. We also open the invitation to other school districts,” Cortney Moreno, College and Scholarship Coordinator, said.
College night will be from 6:30-8:00 pm at the John Knox Pavillion open to all students in the LSR7 school district. A variety of colleges attend the event, including big, and small schools from all over the nation.
“We are planning for over 100 colleges; Including University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Kansas, University of Tampa, University of NE-Lincoln…just to name a few. It is also a great opportunity to meet with our A+ Coordinators, Trade Specific Industry Leaders, Military Personnel and Missouri Dept of Higher Education and Workforce Development. Again, over 100 institutions will be available,” Moreno said.
At the event, students can look for information about different colleges, and talk to people from each university to answer any further questions. Overall, the event is a useful opportunity for students to get a better understanding about colleges, and the places accessible to them for their future plans.
