The Lee’s Summit North football team wrapped up their season by playing in the class six state championship game. The Broncos played Christian Brothers College and pushed the game into overtime with the final score being 28-35.
The Broncos fought the whole game, at the end of the first quarter they tied it 7-7. Then at halftime, the Broncos took the lead making the score 28-20 and they kept this score all through the third quarter. During the fourth quarter, CBC was able to sneak a touchdown and tie the game at 28-28. In overtime, CBC scored to end the game at 28-35.
The Broncos had a long season and have played many games throughout it, with their ending record being 12-2. Jason Jones is a coach for the football team and has had many games to reflect on.
“I think the season went well. We had a great group of players that bought into what we were trying to do as a team. I just wished we would have finished the deal,” Jones said.
The Broncos played a good game and stayed motivated and determined the whole season. While the outcome was not what the Broncos wanted, they had a great fight and will continue to improve in hopes of going back next year and winning the state title.
“I would tell them [the players] how proud I am of them. How they accomplished great things, and to be very proud of their success,” Jones said.
