Boys Track Takes off Running

Since late February the track team has been preparing and practicing for this year’s season. The season has gone well so far, the team remains a relatively inexperienced team with a lot of new guys coming out this year.

“We knew we were returning some quality athletes including all-state triple jumper Isaiah Hoard, high jumper Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap and hurdler Frank Sparks…we just knew we needed to build a supporting cast around these guys by continuing to develop the other members of the team and recruit some new ones to join,” coach, Eric Davis said.

With winter conditioning helping students stay in shape for the season, athletes also prepared by watching old films and working on their personal weak points. So far the team has competed well in most meets this season including winning the Winnetonka Invitational.

“I know we’ll all do big things this season I’m just ready to see it happen. We love learning with each other and we all get along well,” Junior, Jeremiah Rainey Dunlap said.

As the players build a relationship with one another, the season is predicted to go well with hopes that if players remain healthy, they should qualify several athletes for the state track meet and have several all-state athletes.
