Long Live the Teachers

Story by Kay Haas – Staff Reporter

For the last pep assembly of the year, five sets of teachers were chosen to be candidates for teacher royalty. The pairs were Jennifer Belmore and Adrienne Ray, science teachers, Brad Ralston and Chris Gerding, science teachers, Jonathan Krinke and George Peng, music teachers, Jennifer Mooney, history teacher and A+ coordinator, and Terry Durnell, video and broadcasting teacher, and Andrea Hood-Johnson, English and psychology teacher, and Aaron Wilson, math teacher. Together the teachers collected over $1400 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The teachers competed for the title by trying to collect the most amount of money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Each pair used different techniques to gain attention.

“Ms. Belmore and I gave out stickers, played the kazoos, yelled a lot, and hung out in popular gathering spots,” Ray said.

It was a close competition but Krinke and Peng won the competition.

“I enjoyed seeing kids giving to a good cause,” Ray said.

Through this event, students were able to donate money to a good cause and support their favorite teachers.
