The Track and Field Season is a Go

Track season just started, and athletes are excited for their upcoming meets. All the athletes were elated for their first meet at Lee’s Summit North’s own track last Friday, March 20th.

“It’s exciting because we practice here, so you are more familiar with the track, and it just gives you more of a desire to want to win because you don’t want to lose at home,” Yasmine Hoard, senior, said.

Success in track and field comes from not only physical strength, but also from having fun, being mentally refreshed, and rested as well.

“I typically pray before my race and make sure I get a really good, lengthy warm-up in. It just helps me stay focused, and I listen to music before, make sure I eat really well that whole week so I can be fueled,” Lena Scofield, junior, said.

As meets approach, the team’s energy continues to build. Each athlete knows that success on the track comes from the countless hours of practice, discipline, and teamwork leading up to race day. With the support of their teammates, runners are ready to push their limits and set the tone for the rest of the season.
