A Successful Day for Students in the Journalism World
Story by Reagan Hill – Photography Editor
This week, LSN’s Newspaper, Broadcasting, and Yearbook staff visited the University of Missouri to attend their annual Journalism Day (J-Day).
“I love J-Day because every year it’s something different,” Baylie Huston, senior, said.
The day features different sessions, lectures, and competitions. Beforehand, students enter their work created throughout the school year for a chance at winning an award presented by the judges. These lectures and sessions are given by Mizzou professors and guest speakers to educate the next generation on the art of journalism and how to strengthen their skills.
“The sessions are always so interesting, and I have so much fun going to stores and restaurants with my friends,” Huston said.
During their free time, students may eat lunch with their peers around campus, tour the journalism school, and visit local restaurants and shops nearby. The day ended with lots of success as four staff members from The Northern Exposure received awards in their excellence in writing and page design. Overall, it was a very successful day for all groups involved at J-Day!
