Another club has made its way to LSN, the People of the Pacific Club just had its first meeting only weeks ago. Mahina Tovey, senior, decided to help create the club with fellow students to help give Pacific Islander students a place to get to know each other.
“I wanted to give Pacific Islander students here at Lee’s Summit North, because I know we’re a small minority here, to get to know one another and to share our cultures,” Tovey said.
The first meeting had a good turnout with a mix of Pacific Islander students, people interested in knowing more about the club, and support for the club’s founders.
What is next for the People of the Pacific Club is a number at the upcoming pep assembly for prom to help get more interested in the club.
The club also plans to continue on doing activities throughout the summer before it is time for the seniors to go their separate ways in the fall.
Once again it seems change has come to LSN in the best way possible.
