District Football Champs: First Time in LSN History

Story by Kaia Monaco – Assistant Editor

For the first time in Lee’s Summit North history, the football team has become the district champions after beating Joplin High School 21-0.

“I am excited for the staff and players. It is a huge accomplishment for the team, and I am glad all of their hard work has paid off,” Mike McGurk, activities and athletics director, said.

The team played all of the postseason games at home, allowing students to cheer on the team from their own stadium.

“ [The] attendance was good and the student section brought a lot of energy,” McGurk said.

From here, the Broncos will go to St. Louis to compete in the MSHSAA semi-finals against Christian Brothers College High School. The game is Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
