Boys’ Swim Season Recap

Story by Abby Langle – Editor-in-Chief

2022 fall sports are coming to an end which means boys’ swimming is wrapping up their season. The Lee’s Summit North boys swim team had a great end to their year. The team went to state being led by their head coach, Thomas Faulkenberry, who has been with the program for six years, four of them as head coach. They finished with a total of three All-State finishes.

“State went well. The 200 Medley Relay of Graham Adkins, Weston Hemmerling, Ben Luna, And Jamison Haines placed 8th, The 200 Freestyle relay of Graham Adkins, Blake Carter, Ben Luna, and Weston Hemmerling placed 12th and Graham Adkins placed 4th in the 50 freestyle,” Faulkenberry said.

Success wasn’t found with just luck. A well put together team and hard work led to players and coaches reaching their goals. A lot of credit is given to team chemistry which many hope will continue to lead to success in years to come.

“It [the season] went pretty well. We had a nice blend of experienced seniors, to pair with a strong set of underclassmen. Not only were we able to accomplish a lot this year, but feel very good about the years to come,” Faulkenberry said.

When a team has strong chemistry like this one, the memories they make with each other can be just as important as results. Since there were so many to choose from this year, it was hard to pick the favorites.

“Too many memories to pick with this team. This was a particularly great group of guys who loved being a part of the program. They were fun, energetic, passionate and loved competing for their school, which led to many pleasant memories throughout the season,” Faulkenberry said.

Boys swim will pick up again next fall in hopes to continue to create lifelong memories and big accomplishments.
