Get to know Allison Black

Story by Bailee Council – Social Media Editor/Co-Assistant Editor

This year Lee’s Summit North welcomed a new history teacher, Allison Black. Black started her teaching career by teaching for 14 years at Lee’s Summit High School, before transferring.

“I’ve always really cared about people, and that makes me really like history because it’s just stories of people,” Black said.

In her teaching career, Black has considered aside from history teaching science or even being a librarian. But she insists her people skills correspond with teaching history and bonding with her students. Outside of school Black has two daughters who will eventually go to LSN, which helped aid in her decision to transfer.

“I wanted the opportunity to be a part of the same community that they will someday be a part of,” Black said.

In her free time, Black enjoys going on walks with her husband and reading a good fantasy/paranormal book.  Her career in teaching expands into the LSN community, making an impact on how students feel and learn about history for the better.
