NHS Blood Drive

February 23rd…a day to save lives. This year on Feb. 23, the National Honor Society (NHS) will be hosting its annual blood drive, but this year, it is more important than ever to donate.
“Covid has changed so much in our communities, including driving up the need for blood. We are in the middle of a blood emergency, so if you can donate, please do! You will need to wear your mask, per usual, but you get a free t-shirt and a snack and save a life at the same time,” Leza Palguta, language arts teacher & assistant NHS sponsor, said.
The blood drive will be hosted in the auxiliary gym from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. If you are 16, you can donate if you have a waiver signed by your parents. If you are 17 and want to donate, no waiver is required. On February 8th, 9th, and 10th, NHS students will be in the cafeteria to sign people up for the blood drive.
“All three Lee’s Summit high schools are having a blood drive this year. We definitely want to beat both high schools in the number of donations. Come on Broncos, be generous and save lives!” Palguta said.
If you are willing and able to donate, please consider signing up for the NHS blood drive. Your donation could save a life. For more information, talk to any member or sponsor of NHS.
